Was not expecting that.
In gesture class today, we were challenged to draw 50% with our dominant hands (right, for me) and 50% with our subdominant hands. The goal was to subvert any unhelpful cataloged drawing habits and retrain the body to:
1. Really see the subject
2. Translate what we see through our hands
3. Subvert the brain’s attempt to micromanage that process
At first, even holding the pencil in my left hand was annoyingly awkward, but the outcome was remarkable. I even prefer a handful of the left-handed gestures for the emotion they convey.
Tell me which one you prefer? Why?
Left hand.
Right hand.

Right hand.

(*how did I draw this with my left hand??)
Right hand.
